This Privacy Policy explains how Daovian (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use our marketing site at www.daovian.com and our product application at app.daovian.com (together, the “Services”).
We build tools for transparent, verifiable Chinese metaphysical reference. We collect only what we need to run those Services, and we say so in plain language.
1. Who this applies to
- Visitors of the marketing website (no account required)
- Users of the product app (account required when the app is generally available)
- People who email us at hello@daovian.com
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Email address — when you create an account, request early access, or contact us
- Birth / chart inputs you enter — such as date, time, and location fields needed to compute calendars and charts in the app
- Saved content — charts, date saves, and similar items you choose to store
- Message content — whatever you include when you write to us
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Basic technical logs — IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps, used for security, debugging, and reliability
- Authentication cookies — on
app.daovian.comonly, to keep you signed in. We do not place auth cookies on the marketing site or share login state withwww
2.3 Payments
When paid plans launch, payment card details are processed by Stripe (or a successor processor). We do not store full card numbers on our servers. We may receive billing metadata (plan, status, invoices) needed to provision your account.
2.4 Analytics
We may add privacy-respecting analytics later (for example Plausible or Vercel Analytics). If we do, this policy will name the vendor and what is measured. We do not sell personal information.
3. How we use information
- Provide and improve the Services
- Compute deterministic calendar / chart outputs you request
- Send transactional mail (sign-in links, security notices, billing receipts)
- Send product digests only if you opt in (for example daily reference mail)
- Respond to support and privacy requests
- Detect abuse and protect the Services
We do not use your chart inputs to train public foundation models as a side business. If that policy ever changes, we will update this document before doing so.
4. AI features
Some Pro features may send engine results and retrieved source passages to a model provider so the model can explain them in natural language. We design prompts so the model receives structured facts and citations—not a blank invitation to invent destiny math.
Model providers process that content under their own terms. We choose providers with enterprise data-handling options when available.
5. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
Where GDPR / UK GDPR applies, we typically rely on: contract performance (providing the app you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, product improvement), consent (optional digests and non-essential analytics), and legal obligation when required.
6. Sharing
We share information only with:
- Infrastructure vendors (hosting, email delivery, database) under contracts that limit their use to providing services to us
- Payment processors for subscriptions
- AI providers when you use explanation features that require them
- Authorities if required by law
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Retention
- Account data: kept while your account is active, then deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period after closure unless law requires longer retention
- Logs: kept for a limited operational window
- Emails you send us: kept as needed to resolve the request
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to a small SaaS service (TLS in transit, access controls, least-privilege credentials). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
9. International transfers
We may process data in the United States and other countries where our vendors operate. Where required, we use appropriate transfer safeguards.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.
To exercise these rights, email hello@daovian.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We may need to verify your identity.
11. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Do not create an account for a child.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The “updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will be highlighted on this page or notified by email when appropriate.
