How to verify a BaZi chart: a practical checklist

What to inspect after entering birth data — pillars, timezone policy, and calendar forks — so you can tell a recomputable engine from opaque AI copy.

Search for “BaZi chart” and you will find scores, essays, and screenshots. Far rarer: instructions for checking whether the pillars were computed correctly.

At Daovian, trust is not a tone of voice. It is whether the same inputs reproduce the same chart facts. This checklist is for ordinary readers — you do not need to be a master, but the tool must show its work.

Facts you should see before interpretation

  1. Four pillars: year, month, day, hour (each stem + branch)
  2. Input snapshot: date, time, timezone (or stated time policy)
  3. Calendar choices: e.g. year change at Start of Spring (立春) vs New Year habits; month change by solar term; how 子时 maps to the calendar day; whether true solar time is applied

If a product only shows a “luck score” and hides pillars, you cannot verify anything.

Verification steps

1. Freeze inputs and recompute

Same birth data, same timezone policy, rebuild the chart. Facts should match across refresh, devices, and accounts. Deterministic engines do not “roll” like chat temperature.

2. Cross-check a second source

Compare pillars with a trusted almanac table, open-source calendar library, or another app you trust. Watch especially:

When two tools disagree, ask which fork each implements before declaring either “wrong about destiny.”

3. Stress the edges

Transparent products document the fork. Opaque products silently diverge while both claim accuracy.

What verification covers — and what it does not

Verification targets structural facts, not whether a narrative “came true.”

Daovian keeps calculation in the engine and language after citeable rules and sources. See Method and BaZi.

Three lines for buyers

  1. Demand pillars before prose.
  2. Documented edge rules beat secret lineage claims.
  3. AI may translate terms; it must not quietly rewrite stems and branches.

Life reference, not absolute fate. If you cannot recompute, you are not evaluating an interpretation — you are evaluating persuasion.
